President
As President of EMS at UC San Diego, I manage a lot of our external partnerships and handle club logistics. Outside of EMS, I love to research cures for Alzheimer’s and work as an EMT for an IFT company in San Diego. Also, I have several hobbies such as biking and running, while also going to the gym as regularly as possible.

Publicity Chair
As publicity chair of EMS at UC San Diego, I manage all things publicity such as the instagram account, the subcommittee, posting and publicizing events, meetings, and socials. I also have an avid role in recruiting new members and publicizing what we do as a club to potential new members via tabling and flyering. I currently work as an EMT- hyperbaric technician in an outpatient clinic for hyperbaric medicine and spent about a year working for an IFT ambulance company before that. Outside of medicine, I like to go to the beach, hike, and go to the gym.

Social Chair
As the social chair of EMS at UC San Diego, I plan and coordinate events and socials for our members! As an EMT, I work special events like festivals, concerts, and conventions, and as an EMT skills instructor. On campus, I am an RA, play intramural volleyball, and enjoy being in other clubs & orgs. I love all things arts and crafts, going on adventures, and cooking!

I also participate in Parkinson’s disease research and love being involved in health advocacy. My hobbies include reading, discovering new music, and going on long walks!

As Vice President of EMS at UC San Diego, I assist in managing external partnerships and mainly focus on the internal development and growth of our organization. As an EMT, I work concerts and on the ambulance for an IFT ambulance Company in San Diego and Riverside County. I am passionate about emergency medicine and health education, especially in underserved populations. I enjoy going to the beach, the gym, going on runs and line dancing.

Training Chair
After my time working both IFT and 911 ambulance services during my gap year, I wanted to continue pursuing my passion for emergency medicine. Working with you all allows me to transform what I’ve learned into new and exciting experiences. As Training Chair, I am excited to develop hands-on training sessions and workshops where everyone can gain practical knowledge and confidence, preparing participants with critical, life-saving skills. Outside of EMS, I love to sing, cook, climb, and game!

As treasurer of EMS at UC San Diego, I manage our club finances by preparing budgets and tracking expenses as well as setting up fundraisers. I also participate in clinical volunteering with underserved communities in Tijuana and aiding in health advocacy. Outside of medicine, I coordinate events for my social dance organization while working as a wilderness guide with UCSD Outback Adventures and as a campus tour guide! I love cooking, going to concerts, reading, and occasionally crocheting.

My name is Shannon Mitchell. I am an EMT and lifeguard in San Diego. I also volunteer in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and work with persons with disabilities in my community.
My goal is to practice emergency medicine. I also would like to work with Doctors Without Borders in the future. I am excited to be a part of this team and look forward to getting to know all of you!
